Xichén Deluxe: Chichén Itzá, a cenote and Valladolid with added services
Travel by panoramic bus to Chichén Itzá with a light breakfast, radio-guide equipment and onboard drinks, then swim at a cenote with life-jacket rental included and enjoy a Yucatecan buffet with beverages at La Casona in Valladolid.
Xichén Deluxe: Chichén Itzá, a cenote and Valladolid with added services
The more inclusive Xichén option
Xichén Deluxe builds a full-day outing around Chichén Itzá, a cenote and Valladolid. A panoramic bus provides round-trip transportation from a selected hotel or meeting point. Beyond the central guided visit, the package includes meals, drinks and practical services that are not included with Xichén Classic.
Approximate duration is 9 to 12 hours depending on the departure point and the day's operation. Reserve the full day rather than treating this as a short visit between other commitments. The order of stops may change, so regard the listed experiences as parts of the overall route rather than appointments guaranteed to happen in one fixed sequence.
Added services begin on the bus
A light onboard breakfast consists of a baguette, a small cake or pastry, and juice. Soft drinks, bottled water and beer are also served on the bus. These beverages are an onboard inclusion, not an unlimited bar throughout every stop. Beer is for adults, and consumption remains subject to staff guidance and the activities that follow.
Each guest receives a reusable water bottle and holder for the archaeological site. A radio-guide device with earphones is also provided. It can make the bilingual certified guide easier to hear in a busy outdoor setting, but it does not replace staying with the group, noting the meeting time or following site rules.
Exploring Chichén Itzá with a guide
The guided portion introduces the setting and structures of the ancient city. Expect walking and direct sun, and dress accordingly with breathable clothing, comfortable shoes, sunglasses and a hat. The included bottle helps you carry water, while a small bag can keep identification and personal items together without making the walk cumbersome.
Use of a video camera inside the archaeological site carries a separate tax that is not included. Ask how your equipment is classified if you plan to bring specialized recording accessories. Before pausing for photographs, note where and when the group will meet. A shared tour does not provide unlimited independent time or the flexibility of a private guide.
A cenote swim with life-jacket rental included
The tour visits a cenote where guests may swim. Deluxe includes life-jacket rental, an important distinction from Xichén Classic. Bring swimwear, a towel and dry clothes; the provided jacket covers one piece of safety equipment, but it does not replace personal preparation or the staff's instructions.
Swimming is optional. A traveler who prefers to stay dry can follow staff guidance about where to wait while others enter the water. A cenote is a natural environment, and each visitor should consider personal comfort and ability. Keep passports, phones and dry clothing protected and determine how you will secure belongings during the swim.
A Yucatecan buffet in Valladolid
Deluxe includes a Yucatecan buffet with beverages at La Casona in Valladolid. Both the restaurant and the meal format distinguish this option from Classic, where the buffet is served at the cenote restaurant with one agua fresca. If the Valladolid meal influences your decision, make sure the booking summary names the Deluxe product.
A buffet can offer choice without guaranteeing that every allergy, religious requirement or special diet can be accommodated. Ask in advance when a traveler needs to avoid particular ingredients. Restaurant beverages and the drinks served on the bus may have different conditions, so follow staff guidance rather than assuming that every menu item belongs to the package.
Pickup and return planning
The general pickup window is between 7:00 and 9:00 a.m. Your actual appointment depends on the selected hotel or meeting point and should appear in the transportation instructions. Simply being ready at the start of the general window is not enough. Find the correct lobby or meeting area and arrive early enough to identify the vehicle.
Return transportation goes to the confirmed location, but arrival varies with the route and operating conditions. Keep the end of the day flexible. If you move to another hotel after booking, ask for the transportation details to be reviewed; a new address may require a different meeting point and should not be assumed to be covered automatically.
Ages, child categories and original identification
The tour is presented as suitable for all ages. The child category covers ages 5 through 11 and receives a reduction from the adult rate. Bring original identification to establish age. The supplier page also uses wording concerning children under 4; do not make a category decision from that phrase alone without checking how the traveler appears in the final quote.
Foreign visitors must present a valid passport. Mexican visitors may use INE or IFE, FM2 or FM3, or a passport. For children, accepted documents include CURP, a school photo ID or a vaccination record. Documents must be original, not only digital images. A child younger than 12 who is taller than 1.40 m must still carry proof of age.
An outing of up to 12 hours can be demanding for young travelers and anyone who needs frequent breaks. Consider highway time, walking in the heat and changing after the cenote. Admission for all ages does not promise that every guest will want to swim or maintain the same pace for the whole day.
Packing for sun, water and the road
Bring swimwear, a towel, dry clothes, comfortable walking shoes, sunglasses and a hat. Sunscreen, tanning products and insect repellent should contain only titanium oxide and zinc oxide under the supplier's environmental instructions. Read the ingredient panel; a general label such as “eco-friendly” does not by itself establish compliance.
Carry cash or a card for souvenirs, unlisted refreshments and personal expenses. Deluxe includes more than Classic, but it does not include every purchase available during the journey. Protect original identification from water and review camera rules before entering the archaeological site or preparing for the cenote.
Choosing between Deluxe and Classic
Deluxe makes sense when your group values a simple breakfast, onboard drinks, earphones for the guided visit, included life-jacket rental and a Yucatecan meal with beverages in Valladolid. Its practical value comes from those specific inclusions, not from an undefined promise attached to the word “Deluxe.”
Classic retains the essential combination of Chichén Itzá, a cenote, buffet and transportation, but does not include the Deluxe breakfast, radio-guide device, onboard drinks, life-jacket rental or La Casona meal. Compare what your group will actually use and make sure every traveler is entered under the same intended option.
Cancellation and date-change terms
A cancellation made more than two days before the original arrival date is subject to a 10% administration fee. With two days or less remaining, or in the event of a no-show, the reservation is nonrefundable. The original arrival date matters, so act early if plans have changed.
A date change may cause the rate to change, and it cannot be requested on the tour day itself. Review date, names, ages, accommodation and meeting point before paying. Do not substitute a generic 24-hour cancellation rule; the Xichén conditions are the relevant ones for this product.
Quick answers before booking
Does everyone leave at 7:00 a.m.? No. The 7:00-to-9:00 period is a general pickup window. Your appointment depends on the selected location.
Is breakfast a full meal? It is described as light and includes a baguette, pastry and juice. Plan separately if you need a different meal for dietary or timing reasons.
Is the cenote life jacket extra? Not with Deluxe; its rental is included. That inclusion should not be transferred to Classic.
Is the order always the same? Not necessarily. Operations may change the sequence, so keep what you need for walking, eating and changing clothes accessible.
Who will appreciate Deluxe most? Travelers who want a guided cultural visit, a cenote and Valladolid with more of the day's practical details covered. If you prefer a short activity or want to arrange each component independently, compare another format. If hydration, listening equipment and included life-jacket rental matter to your group, Deluxe reduces several decisions during a long outing.
